Dog’s Nation in El Dorado Springs, MO is The Bully Dog Rescue Coalition’s first satellite location. This facility features 10 acres and is home to approximately 65 dogs. In accordance with The Bully Dog Rescue Coalition’s mission, 90-95% of these dogs are considered pit bulls. Dog’s Nation is run single-handedly by Shawn Abell, with the help of just a few kind-hearted volunteers.
In addition to rescuing bully breed dogs from death’s door, rehabilitating and providing safe harbor, the heart and soul of Dog’s Nation is its “Battle Buddies” Program.
Many exceptional dogs have made it through the Battle Buddies program. This program is designed specifically to benefit combat veterans. Through Battle Buddies, pit bulls are trained and service certified and then paired with a person in need.
Helping Autistic Youth
Much like the Battle Buddies program, Dog’s Nation also has a program dedicated to helping autistic youth. Through this program, pit bulls are trained and service certified and then paired with a child in need.
Typically, this “category” of specialized service dog are placed by its trainer/organization at an average cost of $25,000. Dog’s Nation has always provided this extraordinary service absolutely free of charge.
Teaming Up with BDRC
After years of going it practically alone, Shawn and Dog’s Nation have been joined forces with The BDRC. The founding members of BDRC are lending their experience and expertise to help form and further critical programs at Dog’s Nation. The BDRC has committed to help build up volunteer programs, community relations, sponsorship, fundraising and facilities improvement.
By The BRDC taking on these responsibilities, Shawn Abell will be free to focus her energies entirely on her passion — dedicating her life to training more dogs for placement in Dog’s Nation’s Battle Buddies program!
